The Gambling Industry Code of Conduct

Members of the online gambling community acknowledge the need to self regulation because of the vast operation coverage of their business through the Internet. Hence the establishment of regulatory bodies that will monitors their operation and will determine a uniform standard code of conduct to be abided by all online gambling operators. This is in connection to their goal of maintaining the credibility and professionalism of the industry where they operate business.

The Interactive Gaming Council has established a Code of Conduct for all operators involved in online gambling business. The Interactive Gaming Council imposes the compliance of their set standards and regulations to all its members who are required to apply a license from the jurisdiction where they intend to operate through legal means. The IGC Board reserves the right to declare a breach of the Code once a member shows non-compliance to the term and conditions set forth by the Council.

The Code of Conduct also demands from the online gambling operators to exert effort that will provide an efficient services and algorithm in their systems that will gain greater confidence to the online gambling industry from its customers. Every member is accountable to protect its customer's confidential information and should subject their system to an independent inspection from qualified persons for analysis of their gaming software on a regular basis. This ensures that fair and honest game is being run in their business.

The Code also mandates all members to be transparent in their promotions requiring them to publish the rules, procedures and pay out percentages for every game. All members will be subjected to regular auditing procedures conducted by the Council representatives where the gambling establishment's finances should be available to be archived and audited. In case of any dispute to take place involving any of the members of the Interactive Gaming Council, the dispute should be settled within the level of parties concerned however with failure of the disputing parties to agree for a settlement the issue may be submitted to the Council for intervention.

The members of the council are also required to provide access control of their gambling facilities to minors. Players should be required to provide proof of to be at a lawful age to gamble. The members should exert effort to corroborate the proof presented to them. An online gambling facility should also refer any identified compulsive gambler for counseling and help.

The operators of online gambling business should also make sure that their facility has adequate funds to pay the prizes won by their customers in a timely manner and appropriate amount. By virtues of the member's corporate citizenship to the Council, they are expected to behave in a professional manner with honesty and integrity to protect the credibility of the gambling industry.

With all online gambling facilities being a member of the Interactive Gaming Council, all online gamblers will get greater satisfaction from their gambling activities with the confidence that the gambling facilities they are playing at are observing rightful code of conduct that regulates their legitimate and honest operations and the rights of their players are well protected.
